If a MIDI library deals with strumming on an acoustic guitar, the result can often be very artificial and even disgusting, including in many popular libraries. We were faced with the task of developing a library of strumming guitars, which should sound realistic and be very diverse in scope for all musical genres.
So we picked up our favorite Martin D-18 to get the typical acoustic guitar sound. We decided to record on a stereo system with two Schoeps CMC 5 microphones in the XY position. Then we played chord by chord… Countless chords… We cleverly arranged the samples into a small masterpiece, in which we can now imagine a realistic-sounding acoustic guitar in strumming mode.
