Crystal Singing Bowls Known as meditative musical sounds of calm, the bowls we created for this instrument have a magical quality and emanate pure tones.
These quartz glass bowls produce such a rich and dreamy tone that we found it hard to put down the recording. We sampled 4 different sized bowls, ranging from 20 to 25 cm in diameter, by striking them with rubber-coated glass mallets.
We also rubbed the mallets on the edges of the bowls to produce light and airy notes.
The samples presented here have such a gorgeous and complex sound that the AMS microphone system we used to record gives a completely different character to each of the different microphone positions.
