Nuendo 13 introduces unique and time-saving features for dialog editors, mixing and recording engineers, new integrated workflows for creating MPEG-H Audio content, innovative dialog recording tools, Dolby Atmos enhancements, additional plug-ins and over 20 additional workflow improvements.
Nuendo 13 continues the developers’ policy of consistently updating all their products. Many of the features that appeared in the 13th version of Nuendo were previously added to the DAW Steinberg Cubase 13, which was released in early November 2023.
Nuendo 13 received new tools for recording and processing dialogues, expanded support for MPEG-H Audio, new plug-ins and functions for working with audio in Dolby Atmos format. The changes also affected the program’s interface, which became “more convenient and simpler,” the company said.
Among the tools for working with speech and dialogues, a function for working with text ADR Script Reader appeared. The function allows you to centrally display texts and other information on computers in the same local network. The function is also compatible with tablets and smartphones: after connecting to the local network, mobile devices will be able to display texts through a web browser by connecting to a local ADR server. The server itself is installed on the same station where Nuendo is installed and running.
It is noted that the information always remains relevant, and any changes in the texts are synchronized in real time. The text can be synchronized in time with the video sequence or music, while the approved changes will be displayed in the project as markers. For example, you can prepare the text for the speaker in the project and display it on the tablet in the vocal room where the recording is taking place. The speaker will be able to independently interact with the text, make edits to it and track what exactly he should “say” during the recording.
To improve the consistency of dialogues, the TonalMatch function has appeared in the program. The technology analyzes the characteristics of the audio tracks in the project and creates a common sound profile, which can be used as a guide when processing other clips in the project. According to the developers, TonalMatch simplifies the coordination of the spectrum between several clips and does not introduce additional distortion and noise.
In addition to this, the VoiceSeparator tool for isolating voices has appeared in the program. With its help, you can separate the main voice from any background sounds, remove other voices and other unwanted sounds in the recorded file. It is noted that the separator uses machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, which increase the accuracy of signal detection and separation efficiency.
For voice processing, Nuendo 13 added the VocalChain effects chain, which previously appeared in Cubase 13. The chain combines various processing, which allows you to abandon many plugins and centrally “tweak” the voice inside VocalChain. The developers note that the plugin is built on a modular structure, which makes voice processing quite simple.
Other changes include improvements to the Detect Silence panel and improvements to the ADR Swipe function. The program also received expanded support for TTAL 1.1 for preparing audio tracks for Netflix.
Nuendo 13 also received a set of new features for working with spatial audio. For example, the program now supports the MPEG-H format and can pan a signal in a volumetric space (through the appearance of the Z axis in the panner). The developers also improved the ADM Authoring window, making it more visual, and added a new renderer for Dolby Atmos.
The 13th version of the workstation received a set of new effects similar to what was added to Steinberg Cubase earlier. The list of plugins now includes new compressors and equalizers and a vocoder, as well as an updated Sampler Track. The mixer window has also been redrawn for a more visual and simple display of information.
If the certificate (R2RCA.cer) and Emulator v1.3.0 are already installed, skip steps 1-3
1. Install the R2RCA.cer certificate
Win+R > enter certmgr.msc > Enter > Trusted Root Certification Authorities > Certificates > RMB on “Certificates” > All tasks > import > point to the R2RCA.cer file
You can check whether the certificate has been installed using the R2RCERTEST.exe file
2. Install Setup Steinberg Silk Emulator v1.3.0.exe
3. Restart the OS
4. Install Nuendo13.msi
Install Generic_Lower_Latency_ASIO_Driver_64bit (if necessary)
5. Place the Content_ folder in
