The Alchemy of Pop EZX was recorded by JUNO Award-winning engineer/producer/mixer Hill Kourkutis and sampled by drummer Skye Paulson (Digging Roots) at the famed Canterbury Music Company in Toronto, Ontario. Featuring four kits, each representing its own niche or style, as well as a wide collection of organic and electronic shakers, stomps, claps, clicks and effects tailored to each kit, it’s an EZX that bridges the gap between multiple sonic ideals and delivers a canopy of kits that run the gamut from raw, rich, dark, earthy and open to subdued, tight and punchy.
In addition to using classic drumsticks, one set was recorded with brushes, one with mallets, and two sets were carefully muffled with towels. All this together gives you a unique palette of colorful sets for both intimate acoustics and hard-hitting percussives.
With Kourkutis’ past-inspired yet future-focused production style and Paulson’s deep, swampy, pocket-sized groove style featured in the included MIDI library, this EZX will give you uncanny percussion fusion that’s firmly rooted in vintage style but pushes today’s sonic ideas into the future.
