The Hamburg Grand S274 is based on a robotic deep multisampling of a 1958 Hamburg D-274 9-foot concert grand piano made by German company Steinway & Sons. Each Hamburg D-274 is handcrafted, and the entire process, from wood selection to string voicing, takes more than a year. This commitment to quality has attracted some of the world’s greatest musicians to it, including Lang Lang, Emanuel Ax, Hélène Grimaud, Leif Ove Andsnes, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, the legendary Russian composer and pianist.
While New York Steinways like the Pianoverse NY Grand S274 were designed for bell tone with huge projection to cut through a 100-piece orchestra and fill larger halls, Hamburg Steinways were designed more as an orchestra replacement, as they were often played in smaller halls with more ideal acoustics.
