Unusual aluminum bells. A wonderful addition to the mallet family. This unusual set of aluminum bells was created by world renowned percussionist Paul Clarvis, a master of his craft. Masterfully recorded at AIR Studios by resident engineer Jake Jackson, this unique metal sound will add to your percussion collection.
The aluphone is a two-and-a-half octave chromatic set of aluminum bells played primarily with marimba sticks, as well as a variety of mallets, both decaying and sustained, with a wide variety of dynamic layers and round melodies.
We’ve combined this with our easy-to-use GUI that gives you instant access to many different microphone selection options (Close, Tree, Ambients, Outrigger, Gallery, Mid) so you can instantly customize your recordings to suit your wishes. We also present to your attention two mixes prepared by engineer Jake Jackson.
Spitfire Audio is committed to introducing composers and producers to innovative, rare sounds. When you listen to tuned metal percussion, the first thing that comes to mind is Tchaikovsky’s celesta, or glockenspiel. Alupophone works similar sonic magic, although it is not immediately recognizable. This stunning set of recordings brings you sonic magic through the finest signal paths used by the world’s finest composers.
We collaborated with world-renowned percussionist Paul Clarvis to capture this extraordinary addition to the hammer family – an otherworldly set of aluminum bells played in the stunning AIR Studios venue. This is one of the best scoring pads in the world. This is where we record the majority of our symphonic and percussion sample libraries, each designed to come together as a cohesive sonic whole. Recorded by seasoned AIR Studios engineer Jake Jackson through a host of treasured vintage microphones through Neve “Montserrat” preamps onto a well-maintained Studer 2″ tape recorder, then to digital at 96k resolution using the finest Prism AD converters.
Paul Clarvis has appeared in countless blockbusters as part of Hans Zimmer’s percussion team for decades. Clavis was also tasked with leading the original drum corps at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. He brings his technical prowess and passionate, collaborative spirit to every session.
